ERWB Water Treatment Plant
Project Overview
The East Range Water Board, in partnership with the City of Aurora, City of Hoyt Lakes, and the Town of White are replacing the failing water treatment plant with an improved and sustainable water source and treatment facility. The project will construct a new water treatment plant, a new surface water intake structure, and 10,000 feet of water transmission line to extend water service to the Scenic Acres neighborhood. This project will regionalize the water system and provide sustainable water for the east range residents for the next 50 years.

Project Timeline
Spring 2024 – Began Construction of Project
Fall 2024 – Completion of watermain extension to Scenic Acres
Summer 2026 – Final Completion of new Water Treatment Facility and Intake Structure
Project Updates
July 2026
- The water treatment facility building is fully constructed including installation of all doors and windows. Nearly all process equipment and piping has been installed.
- Work on the caisson structure underneath the intake building is completed.
- Most work at the intake building has also been completed, including installation of the precast, roofing, raw water pumps, and electrical equipment.
- Startup testing for the intake and water treatment plant will be occurring simultaneously throughout the month of July and into August.
- Raw water pumps have been tested and are in service. Raw water will be pumped to the facility and used to backwash filters, disinfect tanks, and conduct testing of water treatment facility components.
- The new facility will start supplying water to the system once startup testing has been completed.
- Public notices will be sent out in advance of the new treatment facility startup
- Following startup, the contractor will continue work on finishing touches for the intake and water plant.
- Demolition of the existing water treatment facilities is being coordinated and scheduled to coincide with startup of the new facility.
