ERWB Water Treatment Plant

Project Overview

The East Range Water Board, in partnership with the City of Aurora, City of Hoyt Lakes, and the Town of White are replacing the failing water treatment plant with an improved and sustainable water source and treatment facility.  The project will construct a new water treatment plant, a new surface water intake structure, and 10,000 feet of water transmission line to extend water service to the Scenic Acres neighborhood.  This project will regionalize the water system and provide sustainable water for the east range residents for the next 50 years.

Total Project Cost – $33 Million

Project Timeline

Spring 2024 – Began Construction of Project

Fall 2024 – Completion of watermain extension to Scenic Acres

Summer 2026 – Final Completion of new Water Treatment Facility and Intake Structure

Project Updates

July 1, 2025

  • The WTP project is under construction. The contractor has completed the underground tanks for the facility and the foundation and floor of the building.
  • The contractor is working on finishing touches for the process tanks inside the building.
  • Precast wall and roof panels are in storage and expected to be set at the end of July once the process tanks are completed and large process equipment has been set in the tanks. Facility startup is expected to occur in the spring of 2026.
  • Construction for the raw water intake structure began fall of 2024. The concrete caisson is being formed and poured. The pipe to the lake is expected to be installed this summer after which the building structure will be built.
  • Startup of the raw water intake will coincide with startup of the water treatment plant.
