ERWB Water Treatment Plant

Project Overview

The East Range Water Board, in partnership with the City of Aurora and Town of White are replacing the failing water treatment plant with an improved and sustainable water source and treatment facility.  The project will construct a new water treatment plant, a new surface water intake structure, and 10,000 feet of water transmission line to extend water service to the Scenic Acres neighborhood.  This project will regionalize the water system and provide sustainable water for the east range residents for the next 50 years.

Total Project Cost – $33 Million

Project Timeline

Spring 2024 – Begin Construction of Project

Fall 2024 – Completion of watermain extension to Scenic Acres

Summer 2026 – Final Completion of new Water Treatment Facility and Intake Structure

Project Updates

April 10, 2025

  • The WTP project is under construction. The contractor has completed the underground tanks for the facility and the footings and foundations for the building.
  • The contractor is working on forming and pouring the floor slab for the building and forming up and pouring the process tanks.
  • Precast wall and roof panels are in storage and expected to be set in June once the process tanks have been poured. Facility startup is expected to occur in the winter of 2025/26.
  • Construction for the raw water intake structure began fall of 2024. The concrete caisson is being formed and poured. The pipe to the lake is expected to be installed this summer at which point the building structure will be built.
  • Startup of the raw water intake will coincide with startup of the water treatment plant.
