2020 Improvements

Project Summary:

The project involves the following improvements:

  • Syndicate Street: Resurfacing from the bridge over Sand Creek to Valley View Drive, spot replacement of deficient curb and gutter, replacement of concrete pedestrian ramps
  • Holzer Park: Addition of 25 new parking stalls on a new bituminous pad with concrete curb around the perimeter.
  • Jordan Police Department Parking Lot: Milling the existing pavement, bituminous seal coat, and bituminous paving.
  • Mill Street and Broadway Street Alley: Re-grading of existing aggregate (gravel) surfacing the alley ½ block north of First Street with new bituminous pavement
  • Bluffs at Cedar Ridge: Resurfacing of Arabian Drive, Firewatch Drive and Arabian Court, spot replacement of deficient curb and gutter, replacement of concrete pedestrian ramps
  • Aberdeen Avenue: Pedestrian crossing improvements at Prospect Point Road including the addition of four RRFBs, ADA improvements to pedestrian ramps, and crosswalk striping at Prospect Point Road.

Project Status, Schedule, Updates

The City Council ordered preparation of plans at its November 18th meeting. In December and January, collection of data will be occurring in the project areas. This will include collection of aerial imagery with the use of a drone and coring of the pavement and underlying soils to further evaluate the existing conditions data.

The remainder of the project schedule is as follows:

    • Present Final Plans/Specifications to City Council
    • City Council authorizes bidding to contractors

    • City Council reviews bids received

Construction Updates

Updates on the construction process will be posted here during the summer of 2020. During the weeks of heaviest construction, updates will be provided on a weekly basis to provide a status on improvements recently completed and what to expect in the coming weeks.

Q: How long will this project take?
A:
Construction is expected to begin in early August with a bulk of the work completed by late September. Some remaining clean up work may stretch into October. A more detailed schedule can be seen above under the “Project Status, Schedule, Updates” section of this website. Please note that the contractor’s schedule may change. The project team will do their best to keep residents informed with the most up to date schedule.

Q: When will the contractor be working?

A: City working hours are 7 AM to 7 PM M-F and 8 AM to 6 PM on Saturday as necessary
