In the fall of 2022, the City of Jordan purchased a 5-acre lot between the Bluffs at Cedar Ridge and Heritage Hills developments. The land is generally flat and surrounded by mature trees, making it an ideal location for a city park. The land was historically a farmstead, with a few small structures on it in poor condition. During the winter of 2022-2023, the City\u2019s Park &amp; Recreation Advisory Committee, City Council, and Staff developed a vision for the land. A concept plan was landed on containing a 3.5-acre park. The park will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">A half basketball court<\/li>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">1 pickleball court<\/li>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Permanent bags boards<\/li>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Accessible playground equipment with accessible poured in place rubber surfacing<\/li>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Site furnishings including bike racks, garbage receptacles, benches, and a portable restroom<\/li>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Bituminous (asphalt) trails<\/li>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Bituminous parking lot<\/li>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Open Play area (grass)<\/li>\n<li class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">A future park shelter\/gazebo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The concept plan for the park was developed with an emphasis on ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility to meet the needs park users of all ages and abilities. The City looked for ways to fund the park in addition to the potential revenues from the sale of the residential lots adjacent to the proposed park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BMIParagraphHeader\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The City received $350,000 in funding for the park through the DNR\u2019s Outdoor Recreation Grant Program, which provides matching grants to local governments to increase and enhance outdoor recreation facilities in local communities across the state. To fund the park further, six residential lots (3 lots on both the north and south ends of the property) were platted and graded during the fall of 2023 in preparation for sale to private builders. The existing homestead and various smaller outbuilding on the north end of the property were removed. Sewer and water services were stubbed out to the lots, and the lots were rough graded to prepare for home construction.
