June 25, 2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bituminous paving<\/p>\n

    \n
  • The Contractor is planning to pave the final layer of bituminous pavement on N. 4th Street from Bridge Street to Dakota Street and on Cathcart Street starting on Monday, June 29.<\/li>\n
  • They are hoping to complete this in one day, but it may stretch into two days.<\/li>\n
  • The asphalt will typically be installed at temperatures between 250\u00b0F and 325\u00b0F. Therefore, please have children stay away from the asphalt until it cools, which will be after rolling the same day.<\/li>\n
  • It is recommended that alternative routes be used if possible, during this time.<\/li>\n
  • Please avoid parking along the roadways being paved starting at 7 a.m. on the days of paving.<\/li>\n
  • Over the next couple of days, the Contractor will be raising manholes to the height of the wear course and removing the paved ramps at all connections to existing pavement in preparation for the bituminous paving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Turf restoration<\/p>\n

      \n
    • The Contractor has finished installing all permanent seeding throughout the project area.<\/li>\n
    • For the areas that received a blanket (Cathcart Street and N. 4th Street from Peck Street to Dakota Street), the Contractor will be coming through later this week to mow anything that is overgrown.\n
        \n
      • In general, if you feel a need to mow, you will want to set the mower deck at least three (3) inches high and will not want to cut more than one-third of the plant off at a time. It is recommended to avoid mowing during hot weather.<\/li>\n
      • It is also recommended that the existing blanket be left in place as long as possible. Blankets will decompose over time and help the seed retain moisture. If you do choose to mow, you will not want the blanket to get caught in the mower blade as it will get tangled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • For the areas that received hydro mulch (N. 4th Street from Bridge Street to Peck Street), the Contractor will be coming through later this week to weed whip the taller weeds along the curb and the sidewalk.<\/li>\n
      • The project team will continue to monitor the weather and water if necessary. If you do notice the seed drying out, helping to water it can go a long way in the establishment of the seed.<\/li>\n
      • Hold off on applying any fertilizer until next spring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        A clear sealant will be sprayed on the roadway at a later date this summer along with the final striping for the project. An additional notice will be released at that time.<\/p>\n
