Project Background
Planning for the reconstruction of County Road D and Greenbrier Street was first started in 2005 when MnDOT was in the development stages for the design of the Unweave the Weave project. The City of Little Canada recognized that project as a unique opportunity to provide for improved stormwater drainage for the northeast corner of the City. Storm sewer stubs with sufficient depth to serve County Road D, Greenbrier Street, and other significant portions of the northeast corner of Little Canada were coordinated and installed as part of the Unweave the Weave project for future use by the City.
County Road D, located in both Little Canada and Vadnais Heights, is under Ramsey County jurisdiction. Therefore, the County Road D portion of the project is a collaboration between all three agencies.
Improvements
County Road D and Greenbrier will both be improved from rural roadways (no curb and gutter) to urban roadways. This includes a bituminous trail along the north side of County Road D. Storm sewer will be installed to improve drainage; and improvements include the construction of a pond on the east side of Greenbrier south of Pioneer Trail. Sanitary sewer repairs were recently completed via trenchless methods, working manhole to manhole. Some watermain valves and hydrants will undergo minor repairs.
Construction
Construction is anticipated to last five or six months during the summer and/or fall of 2020. Residential access to properties will be maintained throughout construction. However, residents can expect typical delays due to construction activities. Please use caution when driving or walking in the work zone; safety for residents and construction crews is the number one priority.
