Weekly Update

June 29, 2020

The contractor successfully completed the base lift of bituminous pavement on Bridge Street last week.  The contractor is expected to start the installation of the new retaining walls within the next couple of weeks and immediately following plans to construct the new concrete sidewalk.

The contractor has successfully completed all the new utility work in the intersection of Bridge & 4th St and plans to start the installation of the new sand and aggregate base this week.  The contractor has completed the new sanitary sewer and watermain within 4th St and plans to work on the new services this week.  Immediately following, the contractor will continue with the new roadway sand and aggregate based heading south on 4th St.

The contractor has successfully completed the new utility work within Elmwood Ave between the drainage ditch and Ferry Street.  The contractor is currently working on the installation of the new sand and aggregate base with goal to get to Smith Street within the next week.

The contractor plans to continue with the new utility work heading south on Elmwood Ave, focusing on the stretch between Smith and Regency Road.  In addition, the contractor has identified the need to replace the large storm sewer culvert located south of LaBelle’s on Elmwood Ave as soon as possible.  The culvert is required to be replaced to allow for critical private utility relocations and for the construction of the new roadway widening.  The contractor is proposing to replace the culvert this week on Wednesday, July 1st and will require the full closure of Elmwood Ave to all north/south traffic at this location.  The contractor intends to restore traffic along Elmwood Ave by end of the week in time for the long weekend.
