Phase 4:
This week Dickenson and West Lake were graded in preparation for pavement. The base pavement was placed along Dickenson while the new cul-de-sac was built at the end of West Lake. On Monday, Aug 29, the contractor plans to pave the base on West Lake and the wear on Dickenson. West Lake Street will be paved first followed by Dickenson. If time permits Monday, the plan is to then place the wear on West Lake. If not, the contractor plans to pave the wear on Tuesday morning. Shortly after the wear has been placed along both streets, topsoil and hydro see will be placed. The contractor will be around to water the new seed. Residents are encouraged to also water the seed.
The asphalt will typically be installed at temperatures between 275° F and 350° F. Therefore, please have children stay away from the asphalt until it cools. Oil will be placed over the road prior to paving, so please stay off the oil to avoid having it stuck to your vehicle. Both roads will be paved in one pass of the paver and thus access to driveways and connecting roads will be limited to after the pavement is rolled. Once the asphalt is rolled, please keep your speed low and avoid harsh turning motions. As this is the final layer of pavement, any scuffs on the pavement will be permanent.
The timeline for this work is approximate and may change based on weather and sub-contractor availability. Please refer to the weekly updates on this page for the most up to date information. Weekly updates will occur towards the end of each week. For specific questions or concerns, please contact Kristina Brierley.
