ADA Transition Plan

The overall goal for an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan is to provide a path to compliance with ADA requirements. The city has developed a plan to make facilities in the public right-of-way more accessible. Learn more about ADA and its applicability to state and local governments.

The transition plan provides a better understanding of the Fort Dodge assets in the right-of-way by evaluating pedestrian ramps, sidewalks, trails, and transit facilities. It also helps the city budget for future improvements to the system to increase compliance.

The draft plan below is now open for the required 45-day public comment period.  Once this requirement is met, the plan will be presented to City Council for adoption of the final plan.

Filing a complaint

The city has developed a procedure to facilitate resolution of citizen’s complaints, concerns, comments, and other grievances. Citizens are encouraged to informally discuss ADA issues by contacting the city’s ADA Coordinator.

Those wishing to file a formal grievance may do so by one of the following methods:

  • Contacting the ADA Coordinator.
  • Submitting an ADA grievance form. You can print and mail this form, or fill it out virtually and email it to the ADA Coordinator. Fill out the form here
