The Fox & Spur Connector is poised to breathe new life into a 32.3-mile stretch of retired railroad between Sumter and Florence, transforming it into an engaging and scenic regional greenway trail. Designed to go through the towns of Mayesville, Lynchburg, and Timmonsville, the trail presents a wonderful opportunity to energize Sumter, Lee, and Florence counties by providing a safe, welcoming, and accessible recreational space for all.

But this isn’t just any trail! The Fox & Spur Connector meanders across a landscape steeped in historical significance, indigenous earthworks, and natural beauty. Along its path, explorers will encounter sightings of Foxfire fungus, longleaf pines, and various wildlife species.

The surrounding towns boast a rich legacy of railroad and logging days, vibrant cultural traditions, and have now blossomed into popular destinations for vacationers and adventurers alike. These communities serve as inviting gateways to the trail, offering access points, rest stops, and a warm welcome to visitors.

With a mission to connect neighborhoods, inspire outdoor fun, and spark local pride, the Fox & Spur Connector is set to become a beloved gathering place—a trail where health and happiness are just a walk, bike ride, or jog away!
