The current Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Bicycle and Pedestrian Element is an addendum to the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan. The plan was adopted by the Grand Forks – East Grand Forks Metropolitan Planning Organization on December 18, 2013, and has since been updated once. The latest update to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Element was adopted on January 23, 2019.
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Element guides the development of a safe, effective, and well-connected network of bicycle facilities (such as bike lanes, boulevards, shared use paths, and other resources) to encourage walking and bicycling for transportation, recreation, and economic development objectives, and improve quality of life.
