Construction Update

Overall Project Schedule:

This year, work will take place from 2nd Avenue SE to 8th Avenue SE on Main Street E. The contractor plans to have all major project work, including utilities, road construction, and final street paving, completed by the end of July; however, this time frame is very tentative and subject to change.

Completed Work So Far:

The contractor started up this year’s utility work on Wednesday, May 8th. Their focus has been to complete all utilities east of the railroad track (6th Ave to 8th Ave) before transitioning to the west end of the project. They took 5 days to install the mainline sanitary sewer from 6th Ave to 8th Ave, and another 2 days to install the watermain. Today, they plan to start installing the sewer and water service lines for these blocks.

Moving Forward:

Next week, the contractor plans to finish the service lines for 6th Ave to 8th Ave. They will then begin installing the new sanitary sewer from 4th Ave to 6th Ave, starting as late as Thursday, May 23nd. The current plan is for a road crew to come in right behind the utility crew and begin road base construction.
