2nd Avenue SW Reconstruction Project

Project Overview

The City of Pipestone will be reconstruction 2nd St SW, from 10th St SW to 7th St SW in 2026, as infrastructure in the project area is aging and deteriorating. This project will reconstruct the street, including installation of new pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, watermain, and utility service lines to residences.

Project Improvements

  • The project area will be repaved with a new 36-foot-wide street surface
  • The storm sewer will be replaced with new pipes and structures that meet updates standards.
  • Sanitary sewer will be replaced with new pipes, structures, and services
  • Existing watermain, hydrants, and service lines will be replaced, a temporary water system will be installed during utility work.

Schedule

  • April 6, 2026 – Project bid opening
  • April 20 or May 4, 2026 – Bid consideration and contractor selection
  • May 2026 – Construction begins (Tentatively)
  • September 2026 – Construction substantially complete (Pending contractor scheduling)
