6th St NW to 10th St NW: The contractor has completed their required maintenance period for the sod. Moving forward homeowners will be responsible for sod watering and maintenance.

TH 42 to 6th St NW and 8th St NW to 10th St NW: The contractor plans on paving the final lift of asphalt this Wednesday, September 11th. Please have all vehicles off the street by 7:00 am Wednesday.

6th St NW to 8th St NW: Mail will now be delivered back to resident’s personal mailboxes.

2nd Avenue NW
The contractor plans to start reinstalling mailboxes today, August 13th and tomorrow, August 14th. If you have removed your mailbox from your front yard, please return it to the front. Mail will still be delivered to the mail bank on 7th St NW until further notice.
August 9, 2024
2nd Avenue NW
- 6th St NW to 10th St NW: Sod is planned to be put down Monday, August 12th through Wednesday, August 14th.
- TH 42 to 6th St NW and 8th St NW to 10th St NW: Due to recent weather the contractor has moved the date for the final lift of pavement to the end of August. Another update will be sent out when a specific date is known.
July 31, 2024
2nd Avenue NW
- 6th St NW to 8th St NW: Concrete curb and gutter is tentatively planned to be poured Wednesday, July 24th. Please have all vehicles off the street by Wednesday, July 24th at 7:00 am.
- 6th St NW to 10th St NW: Concrete sidewalk work will begin following the curb and gutter.

2nd Avenue NW
- 6th St NW to 8th St NW: Concrete curb and gutter is tentatively planned to be poured Wednesday, July 24th. Please have all vehicles off the street by Wednesday, July 24th at 7:00 am.
- 6th St NW to 10th St NW: Concrete sidewalk work will begin following the curb and gutter.
June 18, 2024
2nd Avenue NW: Due to inclement weather and excess water within the job site, the contractor plans to do limited work this week. The contractor plans resume work Monday, June 24th.
June 7, 2024
- 6th St to 7th St NW: Underground utilities have been installed and road grading will begin next week.
- 7th St to 8th St NW: Underground utility installation will continue west to 8th St NW.
- The concrete contractor plans to return when all roads and sidewalks have been graded.
April 22, 2024
Week of April 22nd:
- 6th St NW to 8th St NW: A water shutdown is planned for Wednesday April 24 at 9:00 am. This will impact residents on this block and a few surrounding blocks. The water will be turned back on as soon as possible and no later than 3:00 pm.
- 6th St NW to 8th St NW: Mail will now be delivered to the temporary mailboxes located on 7th St NW starting today, April 22nd.

The Contractor plans to resume construction Monday, April 15th. This work includes:
- 4th to 6th St NW & 8th to 10th St NW: Sidewalk removals and grading.
- 6th to 8th St NW: Install temporary water lines for residents along 2nd Avenue NW.
Tentative plan for the week of April 22nd:
- 4th to 6th St NW: Start concrete work on sidewalks and remaining driveways.
- 6th to 8th St NW: Roadway and sidewalk removals.
- 6th St & 2nd Ave NW intersection: Utility reconstruction.
Additional Notes:
- During underground work in the 6th St NW intersection, residents will need to use 8th St NW (from the west off 10th St/CR 8) to access the neighborhoods North of 2nd Ave NW and West of 6th St NW.
- A water shutdown is tentatively planned for the week of April 22nd. This will impact residents between 6th and 8th St NW and few surrounding blocks (more information to be provided next week).
Construction Update
Thank you for your patience throughout the 2023 construction season and the winter months. Currently, the contractor does not have a specific start date for the 2024 construction season.
Road weight restrictions are currently in place, and the contractor is unable to move large equipment to the site. The tentative plan (weather dependent) is to start 1-2 weeks after road weight restrictions have been lifted.
An additional update will be sent out prior to work taking place.

Construction Update
- The contractor is grading along 2nd NW today (10/27) in preparation for paving. Weather dependent, paving is scheduled next Monday and Tuesday.
- Please have all vehicles off 2nd Ave NW and side streets by 6AM on Monday (10/30). Feel free to park in driveways.
October 20, 2023
Construction Update
Private utility relocations within Phase 3 of the project have delayed the contractor. Based on this, it will no longer be possible to fully complete the work in the Phase 3 area in the 2023 construction season. Street and utility work between 6th St NW and 8th St NW will be delayed until 2024.
Based on this change, work between 4th St NW and TH 42 (except for final wearing course), and along 10th St NW (CR 8) will be fully complete this construction season. Between 6th St NW and 4th St NW, and between 10th St NW (CR 8) and 8th St NW the curb and gutter, asphalt base course, and concrete driveways will be complete this construction season. All remaining work will be completed in the 2024 construction season. The section between 6th St NW and 8th St NW will be cleaned up and regraded in preparation for snow removal.

Access Reminder (until further notice)
- Green Prairie Assisted Living (West building) and Plainview Senior Housing must be accessed from the West (10th St NW).
- Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center (East building) and 8th St NW must be accessed from the East.
- Emergency services have been notified.
Construction Update
- 2nd to 5th St NW: The contractor has placed gravel base and ramped driveways for access. Concrete curb and gutter is scheduled for next week (10/9). Please have vehicles out of driveways by Tuesday (10/10) at 7AM.
- 5th to 6th St NW: All underground utilities have been installed. The contractor plans to continue road grading next week.
- 8th to 10 St NW: The contractor plans to continue road grading next week with concrete curb and gutter to follow. Access will be modified sometime next week.
Casting Adjustments
- As part of the 2nd Ave NW project, the contractor will be repairing manhole and gate valve castings throughout town. Please reference the project website for these locations.
- They plan to do this work periodically over the next 4-6 weeks.
- This work should not impact access to driveways. If an individual driveway will be impacted, you will be notified before work begins.

- The contractor is switching residents from 4th to 6th St off of temporary water today. For those residents who are not home to be switched over immediately contact Sawyer Hander – 507-226-3472 if you are without water.

- 8th to 10 St NW: Next week, the contractor plans to finish storm sewer installation and begin grading for the road base.

Water Service Update
Between 2nd St and 4th St NW, the contractor will be switching homes to the new water system. There will also be a momentary service interruption between 4th and 5th St NW.
If you do not have water, please call Sawyer Hander at 507-226-3472and we will have the contractor over to switch your water service.

- N. Wabasha and 2nd St: Concrete sidewalk and driveways are scheduled to be poured next week (9/11). Please have your vehicles out for your driveway by 7 AM on Monday (9/11).

- 4th to 2nd St NW: The contractor plans continue storm sewer installation and road grading. Weather dependent, gravel will be placed between 2nd & 3rd St next week.

September 6, 2023
Access Update
5th St NW intersection will be closed this evening (9/6) through Friday (9/8). The contractor plans to install sanitary sewer through the intersection. Weather permitting, they plan have it opened back up for the weekend. Access to cemetery and 5th St NW (North of 2nd Ave NW) will be provided through the gate located at 3rd Ave NW and 6th St NW.
Note: There will be future 5th St NW closures for other utility installation. Additional updates will be sent at that time.
September 1, 2023
Construction Update
- 5th to 3rd St NW: Next week the contractor plans to continue work on sanitary sewer and watermain.
- 3rd to 2nd St NW: The remaining storm sewer will be installed next week, followed by road grading to prepare for the gravel surface.
- 2nd St NW to Highway 42: Concrete curb and gutter has been installed. Grading for driveways and sidewalk will begin next week.
- 10th St NW: Most of the pavement patches have been completed. Grading work and top soil will follow.

Water Shutdown Update
A water shutdown was scheduled for this afternoon for residents along 2nd Ave NW between 4th and 6rh St NW. The contractor will be switching these homes to the temporary water system.
If you do not have water, please call Drew at 507-469-0306 and we will have the contractor over immediately to switch your water service.
Our apologies for the miscommunication and inconvenience.
August 25, 2023
Construction Update
- 6th to 4th St NW: Today (8/25), contractor plans to remove driveway aprons and curb & gutter. Driveway access will be temporarily interrupted.
- 4th to 2nd St NW: The contractor plans to continue work on sanitary sewer and water main, with storm sewer and road grading to follow.
- 2nd St NW to Highway 42: The gravel base has been installed. Concrete work is tentatively scheduled to begin the next few weeks.
- 10th St NW: Due to the heat, the pavement patches are tentatively planned for next week.
August 18, 2023
Construction Update
We hope everyone has a great time at Corn on the Cob Days!
Next week, the contractor plans continue work on sanitary sewer and water main between 2nd and 3rd St NW. A second crew will be installing storm sewer at the 2nd St NW intersection. A third crew will be grading the roadway between 1st and 2nd St NW.
Pavement patches are tentatively planned for next week along 10th St NW.
Temporary mail boxes have been installed at 3rd St NW for the 300 block.
August 9, 2023
Construction Update
The contractor has finished installing subdrain between Wabasha Ave (TH 42) and 1st St NW and will begin removals between 2nd St NW and 4th St NW. Driveway access will be temporarily interrupted during removals.
The water shutdown between 2nd St NW and 6th St NW has been postponed until later this week. Those affected will be notified.
August 7, 2023
Construction Update
This week, the utility contractor plans to continue underground utility work along 2nd Ave NW between 1st St NW and 2nd St NW. A second crew will be installing subdrain between Wabasha Ave (TH 42) and 1st St NW.
A water shutdown is tentatively planned for Wednesday (8/9). This will occur between 2nd St NW and 6th St NW. Those affected will be notified tomorrow (8/8).
July 28, 2023
Construction Update
Next week, the utility contractor plans to continue underground utility work along 2nd Ave NW between 1st St NW and 2nd St NW. A second crew will be working on storm sewer and hydrant replacements between 8th St NW and 10th St NW.
A water shutdown is tentatively planned for next Wednesday (8/2) at 7:30 PM. This will affect residents at Green Prairie and Plainview Senior Housing. Other’s impacted will be notified next week.

Next week, the contractor plans to continue concrete work along 10th Street NW (CSAH 8). Access coordination/communication will be taken care of on an individual basis for this section of work. Underground utility work will continue between Wabasha St (TH 42) and 2nd St NW.

Construction Update
The contractor plans to begin curb/driveway removals and grading for sidewalk along 10th Street NW (CSAH 8) on Thursday (7/13). Driveway access will be interrupted during the removal process, but will be available by the end of the day. Concrete work is tentatively scheduled for the week of 7/17. Access coordination/communication will be taken care of on an individual basis for this section of work.

Construction Update
Pavement reclaiming/milling work is scheduled for Tuesday (7/11) along 2nd Ave NW between 6th St NW and 10th St NW (CSAH 8). Driveway access will be momentarily interrupted at various times throughout the day. Please do no park along 2nd Ave NW between 7 AM and 7 PM tomorrow.
Elcor Construction plans to continue underground utility work between 2nd St NW and Highway 42 (Wabasha Ave) for the next week.

June 23, 2023
Construction Update
The contractor has completed surface removals between 2nd St NW and Highway 42 and plans to start underground construction next week. This work will include a planned water shutdown (Tuesday at the earliest) that will affect residents between 6th St NW and Highway 42. Affected residents will be notified on Monday with a planned day and timeframe for the shutdown.
Temporary Water
After testing is completed, residents between 2nd St NW and Highway 42 will be switched over to the temporary water system. The contractor will be in contact with residents as needed for temporary connections.
June 12, 2023
The contractor plans to reclaim the road surface between 6th St NW and Highway 42 on Tuesday, June 13th. Driveways will be accessible throughout most of the day with intermittent disruptions (before and after the reclaim machine passes).
June 6, 2023
The contractor plans to begin tree removals along 2nd Ave NW on Thursday, June 8th. Elcor Construction plans to move in equipment and materials the week of June 12th, and reclaiming of the road surface is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14th.

Elcor Construction plans to begin work on 2nd Avenue NW in the next couple of weeks. Tree removals throughout the entire project are tentatively scheduled for the week of June 5th. Pavement reclaiming/milling work for the area between 6th Street NW and Highway 42 is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 12th. Please look out for more updates next week.
