The Sportsman Drive closure scheduled May 6th through May 7th has been delayed due to the excavator not working properly. As such, Sportsmans Drive (between 32nd Street Court and Chaplin Drive) will be closed to traffic beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7th through the end of the day on Friday, May 8th.
This closure will not affect access to the school; however, local access will be restricted during this time. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes; signage and traffic control measures will be in place.

Sportsmans Drive Road Closure
The Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District (IGLSD) would like to inform residents and motorists of an upcoming temporary road closure related to the South Center Core Sanitary Sewer Improvements project.
Sportsmans Drive (between 32nd Street Court and Chaplin Drive) will be closed to traffic beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6th through the end of the day on Thursday, May 7th.
Local access will be restricted during this time, and motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes. Signage and traffic control measures will be in place.
IGLSD appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this important work is completed. Please use caution when traveling near the construction area.

The Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District invites you to an open house to learn more about the South Center Core Sanitary Sewer Improvements project. The open house is a chance for the public to review the project, ask questions, and share feedback.

- Drone flight was completed for preconstruction documentation.
Upcoming Tentative Schedule (Week of November 28)
- Continued verification of existing underground utilities.
- Please note that no work will be performed in observance of Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 27.
November 14 – A drone flight is tentatively scheduled for next week over the South Center Core project area to capture preconstruction documentation. Crews are also marking utilities in preparation for upcoming construction. We ask that you please do not move stakes or flags.
November 5 – Crews will be performing underground utility locating and survey work in several areas this week to prepare for upcoming construction. Our surveyor will be on site Friday, 11/7, to place stakes at key project locations, including Sportsman Drive, 202nd Street Crossing, Emerald Pines Drive, the golf course area, and Emerald Meadows. Please do not move or remove any stakes or utility flags.
November 3 – In the coming weeks, an individual on the project team will be conducting preconstruction photo and video documentation within the project area. They will be clearly identifiable by a Bolton & Menk safety vest.
October 10, 2025 – Design is 100% completed.
September 24, 2025 – Notified qualified contractors.
September 9, 2025 – Design is 90% completed.
August 25, 2025 – Request for statement of qualifications of subcontractors has been sent.
June 12, 2025 – Community meetings to took place.
April 10, 2025 – Final design phase has begun.
October 15, 2024 – Easements have been determined; reaching out to affected property owners with documents.
September 13, 2024 – Easement procurement process is ongoing.
August 8, 2024 – Easement procurement process has begun.
May 9, 2024 – Easement needs are being determined.
