City of Waconia

5th Street Area Improvements

Project Overview

The City of Waconia is proposing the reconstruction of 5th Street from Olive Street to Orange Street, along with segments of Elm Street and Pine Street. The proposed improvements will be completed in conjunction with the adjacent Highway 5 project and are intended to improve water quality, strengthen neighborhood connectivity, and provide safer and more efficient travel conditions for motorists and pedestrians. Collectively, these enhancements are expected to support the community’s overall quality of life and contribute to the continued functionality, accessibility, and sustainability of the local transportation network.

  • Street reconstruction of 5th and Pine Streets to City’s residential street section

  • Street reconstruction of Elm Street to City’s truck street section

  • Removal of the Highway 5 access located between Pine Street and Oak Street

  • Replacement of the sanitary sewer system on Elm Street and Pine Street from 5th Street to Highway 5, and from the existing Highway 5 entrance on 5th Street to Orange Street, including service laterals

  • Replacement and upsizing of the water system, including replacement of hydrants, gate valves, and services on Elm Street between 5th Street and Highway 5, Pine Street from Highway 5 to 5th Street, and 5th Street from Olive Street to Orange Street
