Riverside Heights Improvements

Overview

Project Objectives

The City of Blue Earth is undertaking a street improvement project in the Riverside Heights neighborhood. This project is intended to enhance street surface conditions, decommission the failing septic system, cap private wells, connect Riverside Heights residents to the City’s water and sewer systems, improve surface drainage conditions, and increase system reliability while reducing maintenance requirements.

Proposed Improvements – Reconstruction

  • Street reconstruction and subsurface drains
  • Reconstuct driveway aprons, curb and gutter
  • Install forcemain from Riverside Heights development to wastewater treatment plant
  • New sanitary sewer mains, pipes, and manholes
  • New watermain, hydrants, valves and fittings
  • Install new water and sewer service lines to property lines
  • Install new storm sewer pipe and construct pond to aid in surface drainage of site

Project Schedule

November 20, 2023: Initial Public Open House – Preliminary Concept

2024-2025: Plan Submittal to MPCA for project certification

December 18, 2025: Public open house to go over final design

Spring 2026: Bid opening and contractor selection

May 21, 2026: Public open house with selected contractor

Summer 2026: Construction begins

Fall 2027: Construction completion
