 November 11, 2022

Work Completed Last Week:

  • The East Arena Parking Lot had its first lift of asphalt paved and will be open for parking during the hockey season.
  • Temporary mulching was spread to prevent erosion. Permanent seed and sod will be installed in the spring.
  • General site cleanup.

Work Expected Next Week:

  • The road is expected to be open next week once all traffic signage is in place and the site has been prepared for winter.

News & Notes

  • The contractor is pausing construction for the year, but the project will continue in the spring.
  • This will be the last weekly project update until construction resumes in the spring. If you have any question between now and the spring please do not hesitate to reach out to the project team.

 

November 4, 2022

Work Completed Last Week:

  • Concrete curb & gutter was poured on stage 3 (Division St South of Spruce), Stage 4 (Spruce St East of Division St), and on the East Arena Parking lot
  • Street paving on Stage 3 &4 was completed

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Bituminous paving expected to happen East Arena Parking Lot
  • Temporary mulching will be spread to prevent erosion. Permanent seed and sod will be installed in the spring.

News & Notes: 

  • Just a reminder that concrete takes approximately 7 days to fully harden enough to support a vehicle. Residents will need to park on the side streets during the day or on the street over night during this curing period.
  • A temporary entrance has been constructed for the FAA entrance between Walnut St and the visitor parking area. Please use caution when using the temporary entrance.
  • Pedestrians should NOT enter the construction zone. When traveling to Robert Boeckman Middle School travel south on First St to the walking path on Maple St

 

October 28, 2022

Work Completed Last Week:

  • All storm sewer, watermain and sanitary sewer work for 2022 has been completed
    • Crews will return in Spring of 2023 to complete the remaining utility work
  • Concrete curb & gutter has began on stage 3 (Division St South of Spruce), Stage 4 (Spruce St East of Division St), and on the East Arena Parking lot
  • Road Construction continued on Stage 4
  • Road Construction continued for the east parking lot

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Concrete work expected to finish early next week with concrete aprons and driveways to follow
  • Bituminous paving expected to happen late next week

News & Notes:

  • Storm Sewer was completed on south side of Stage 1B (Spruce St west of the Division St Intersection)
  • Storm Sewer & Watermain on Stage 3 (Division St south of Spruce St) were completed
  • Storm sewer in East Arena Parking Lot was completed
  • Road Construction began on Stage 4 (Spruce St East of Division)
  • Road Construction began for the east parking lot

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Curb & Gutter will be poured on Stage 3, Stage 4, and East Arena Parking Lot
  • Concrete aprons for individual driveways will be poured on Stage 4

News & Notes: 

  • Residents with driveways on Stage 4 (Spruce St east of Division St) should park on either the paved area of Division St or on First St beginning Tuesday when concrete curb & gutter and aprons are expected to be poured. Concrete takes approximately 7 days to fully harden enough to support a vehicle. Residents will need to park on the side streets during the day or on the street over night during this curing period.
    • If there are any vehicles, boats, RVs, or other items you need driveway access for during the 7 day cure time please have them out of your driveway by Tuesday at 7:00 AM
  • Division Street has been paved, residents should access the Whispering River Townhomes from Division St.

  • Storm Sewer construction was completed on Stage 4 (Spruce St east of Division)
  • Bituminous paving on Spruce St, Division St, and the West Arena Parking Lot
  • Utility Construction on Stage 3 (Division St South of Spruce St)
  • Utility Construction on Stage 1B (Spruce St West of Division

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Utility Construction on Stage 3 will continue
  • Utility Construction on Stage 1B will continue
  • Street Construction on Stage 4
  • Construction on the East Arena Parking Lot

News & Notes: 

  • Division Street has been paved, residents should access the Whispering River Townhomes from Division St.
  • Access to Schmitz Maki Arena will be from Denmark Ave (CR 31). The west parking lot is open.

October 7, 2022

Work Completed Last Week:

  • Concrete pouring was completed Stage 1A (west end of Spruce St), Schmitz Maki Arena’s west parking lot, and Stage 2 (north end of Division St)
  • Individual water and sanitary sewer services construction were completed on Stage 4 (Spruce St east of Division)
  • Street Construction began on the east end of Stage 4

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Individual homes on temporary water will be contact to be switch to the newly installed watermain
  • Bituminous paving of the west arena parking lot, Stage 1A, and Stage 2 is expected for Wednesday
  • Street construction on Stage 4 east of First St
  • Storm Sewer Construction on Stage 4
  • Utility construction in the intersection of Spruce & Division
  • Construction on the East Arena Parking Lot will begin

Work Expected in Near Future:

  • Upon completion of Utility construction in the intersection of Spruce & Division, work on Stage 3 (Division St South of Spruce St) will begin. Access to the FAA will still be via Walnut St
  • Construction on the East end of Stage 1B has begun. The best way to access the Whispering River Townhomes will still be from Spruce Street via Denmark Avenue
  • After Division Street has been paved, residents may access the Whispering River Townhomes from Division St.

News & Notes: 

  • A lot of concrete curb and gutter and Driveway aprons have been poured in the last week. Please stay off the concrete with vehicle traffic for at least 5 days or until you have been notified it is safe to drive over
  • Access to Schmitz Maki Arena after 4 pm will be from Denmark Ave (CR 31)
    • Parking is available on street and in the east arena lawn.  Arena users can park in the west parking lot after it has been paved.
  • Homes connected to the temporary watermain:
    • For any issues with the temporary watermain or temporary gravel ramps covering the pipe please contact Bob Flaws at (612) 328-0742

September 30, 2022

Work Completed Last Week:

  • Concrete pouring continued on Stage 1A (west end of Spruce St) and on Schmitz Maki Arena’s west parking lot
  • Watermain and sanitary sewer main construction was completed on Stage 4 (Spruce St east of Division)
  • Storm Sewer construction was completed on Stage 2 (north end of Division St)
  • Street Construction began on Stage 2

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Street construction on Stage 4 east of First St
  • Individual sanitary and water service connection will continue in Stage 4
    • After the watermain has passed testing, individual homes will be removed from the temporary watermain
  • Storm sewer construction on Stage 4 will continue
  • Street Paving on Stage 1A (west end of Spruce St) and on Schmitz Maki Arena’s west parking lot
  • Concrete curb and gutter installation on Stage 2

News & Notes

  • Alley access along stage 2 will be from First St. this is especially important after concrete curb & gutter pouring as it needs time to harden
  • With Stage 4 under construction, the best way to access the neighborhood is via Walnut St to Division St
  • Access to Schmitz Maki Arena after 4 pm will be from Denmark Ave (CR 31)
  • Homes connected to the temporary watermain:

  • Street construction continued on Stage 1A (west end of Spruce St) and on Schmitz Maki Arena’s west parking lot
  • Watermain and sanitary sewer construction began on Stage 4
  • Storm Sewer construction continued on Stage 2 (north end of Division St)
  • Final paving of the Fire Station parking lot and Rambling River Park was completed

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Storm sewer construction will be completed on Stage 2
  • Street construction on Stage 2 will begin
  • Watermain and sanitary sewer construction on Stage 4 will continue
  • Individual sanitary sewer and water service connection will begin in Stage 4
  • Curb & gutter will be poured on Stage 1A

  • As a reminder, there is a short watermain shutdown scheduled for tomorrow (9/23) from 8 am – 1 pm. Affected residents have already been notified.
  • Access to Schmitz Maki Arena after 4 pm will be from Denmark Ave (CR 31)

  • Watermain construction was completed on Stage 2 (north end of Division St)
  • Storm Sewer Construction began on Stage 2
  • Homes in Stage 4 (Spruce St east of Division) started to be connected to the temporary watermain

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Watermain and sanitary sewer construction is expected to begin on Stage 4 on Monday (9/19)
  • Storm Sewer construction will continue on Stage 2
  • Curb & gutter will be poured on Stage 1A

News & Notes

  • Temporary mailboxes will be installed for residents who live on Stage 4. Residents will need to go to the mailbox bank to pick up their mail.
  • With that start of construction on Stage 4, the best way to access the neighborhood is via Walnut St to Division St
  • Access to Schmitz Maki Arena after 4 pm will be from Denmark Ave (CR 31)
  • Homes connected to the temporary watermain:

  • The contractor plans to bring in a third utility crew to start work on Stage 4 (Spruce St east of Division) beginning in late September.

  • With that start of construction on Stage 2, the best way to access the neighborhood is via First St
  • BCM may start to connect homes in Phase 4 to the temporary watermain late next week

August 26, 2022

  • Tree removal in the project area began
  • Street pavement on Stage 1A (west end of Spruce St) was ground into gravel for removal

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Watermain & Storm Sewer construction on Stage 1A

Work Expected in near future: 

  • The contractor plans to bring in a second utility crew to start work on Stage 2 beginning Sept 2nd

News & Notes

  • The Stage 1A will be closed to traffic beginning 8/29 so residents are encouraged to use First St to access the neighborhood
  • Pedestrians should NOT enter the construction zone. When traveling to Robert Boeckman Middle School travel south on First St to the walking path on Maple St
  • Some of the first work that will occur is replacing watermain valves on the project limits. The affected homes will have a water shut off hand delivered to them

 

August 19, 2022

Work Completed Last Week:

  • Construction on the parking lots at Rambling River Park, Feely Fields, and Fire Station 1 continued this week
  • All parking lots were paved their first layer of asphalt
  • Turf restoration around the lots began

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Turf restoration around the parking lots will continue

News & Notes

  • Work on Stage 1A and 2 is expected to begin starting 8/29, be on the look out for construction signage and road closures associated with that stage
  • The West side of Spruce St and the north end of Division will both be closed to traffic so residents are encouraged to use First St to access the neighborhood
  • Some of the first work that will occur is replacing watermain valves on the project limits. The affected homes will have a water shut off hand delivered to them

 

August 12, 2022

Work Completed Last Week:

  • Construction on the parking lots at Rambling River Park, Feely Fields, and Fire Station 1 all began and the old curb & gutter and pavement has been removed
  • Aggregate base material, concrete curb & gutter, and flat work was completed in the parking lots

Work Expected Next Week:

  • Paving of the first layer of asphalt in the parking lots
  • Restoration and seeding in the parking lots

News & Notes

  • The Rambling River Parking Lot at the Veteran’s Memorial will remain closed until early next week to allow the concrete to properly cure
  • To provide better access during the later stages of construction Stage 1 has been split into two stages
  • Work on Stage 1A is expected to begin in the next few weeks, be on the look out for construction signage and road closures associated with that stage
