Informational Meeting

Aug. 2, 2018 7—8 p.m. Farmington City Hall 430 Third St.

The City of Farmington has a capital improvement plan that prioritizes replacement of infrastructure including streets and utilities.  The Westview Acres neighborhood has been selected for reconstruction in 2019. This letter is to provide information on the upcoming project and invite you to share your valuable input.  View the enclosed brochure for a project map and additional details regarding street reconstruction projects.

The city will be reviewing the current conditions and issues within the street and utility corridors over the next few months.  We will then determine the project needs which will be presented to the city council in the Feasibility Report.

Current goals of the project include:

  • Sanitary sewer, watermain, and storm sewer replacement
  • Full reconstruction of the road, curb and gutter
  • Improve drainage in the Westview neighborhood area

In preparation for project development, the city is currently gathering information in the project area. You can expect to see surveyors, geotechnical drill rigs, and others collecting information in the coming months. Surveyors may use drones to more efficiently capture footage of the street and utility corridors.

We ask for your assistance in identifying all the current infrastructure needs within the corridor.  You can do this by filling out the attached questionnaire and returning it to city staff. The survey is also available online.  We hope to receive as many questionnaires as possible to more accurately define the project needs.

The first neighborhood meeting for the project will be Aug. 2, 2018, to discuss the preliminary scope of improvements and collect public guidance for the project’s design. Join us for the meeting at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 430 Third St., Farmington, MN. If you are unable to attend the meeting, information will be available on the project website noted in the enclosed brochure.

If you have any questions regarding this information or the questionnaire, please contact either of the individuals below who will be glad to assist.
