Project Update

May 23, 2024

The contractor plans to partially close Kirkwood Street beginning today, May 23, to cut circular holes in the pavement around the manholes and fill them with concrete. This practice allows for a more accurate final adjustment to reduce the bumps in the street. This process is planned to take more than one day to complete.

Due to scheduling conflicts and timing with the weather, this is a short notice without much warning. Thank you for understanding.

Project Update

May 22, 2024

The contractor has been working to finish up the project on Kirkwood, including paving and replacing dead sod. The contractor is responsible for watering the new sod until it is rooted. As with the first time, please do not mow the sod for the first few weeks so that it can properly establish and take root. After a few weeks have gone by, the homeowner will be responsible for the first cut and assume all responsibility for maintaining the lawn grass. Please, do not cut the grass shorter than 3” this summer, this is too short for sod and could cause the grass to brown and die.

There will be another street closing on Kirkwood to allow for circular holes to be cut around the manholes and fill them with concrete. This practice allows for a more accurate final adjustment to reduce the bumps in the street. A notice will be sent out by the city with the expected date of closure, likely in the next week or so. There will also be a final closing to allow for parking striping near the school.
