2022 Street & Utility Improvement

Construction Updates

Project Update

November 17, 2022

Winter has arrived. Unfortunately, there are some items that the contractors will not be able to complete until the spring.

Concrete crews were able to install the curb and gutter last week, but unfortunately asphalt paving was not able to be completed.  The contractor was able to provide a temporary asphalt patch on Highway 16 to help reduce potholes due to high traffic. To allow for snow plowing and proper drainage, the contractor will temporarily fill the street up to the gutter line with gravel for winter. The contractor will be responsible for maintaining the gravel streets through the winter and spring thaw.

Some concrete sidewalks were installed at the busiest locations, while all other sidewalks will be filled with gravel until spring. Driveways and alleys will also be filled with gravel until spring.

Work on the retaining wall and street lighting will continue this year until complete. All disturbed green spaces will be sprayed with a mixture of mulch and seed to prevent erosion in the spring. This is temporary, sod will be placed next year.

Thank you for your patience during this project. Work will continue once weather conditions in the spring allow.
