Construction Updates

June 2, 2026

King Construction has continued work on the Scout Park Lift Station building. Recently, crews have been installing and wiring electrical and control equipment inside the building. These systems will allow City staff to operate the lift station, monitor equipment performance, and receive alerts for any security or operational issues.

Meanwhile, painting preparation is underway at the Scout Park wet well. A protective coating will be applied to the interior surface, which helps shield the concrete from the harsh conditions of wastewater and extends the structure’s lifespan.

Work at the Ice House site is expected to begin later this summer. The city is currently coordinating with MidAmerican Energy to reroute electrical lines prior to excavation. As work progresses, temporary road closures may be necessary. Please watch for updates and refer to the road closure map under the Traffic Notices section of the Project Overview page.

The Scout Park Lift Station building is progressing with installation of the face block, generator, and HVAC equipment. Sanitary sewer piping has been installed below grade to convey wastewater into the lift station wet well underground. Once the electrical and controls components of the lift are installed, started up, and tested, the final piping connections will be made.

Work at the Ice House lift station will begin with electrical line adjustments in coordination with MidAmerican. Once they’ve re-routed the electrical lines, they can begin excavation for the lift station installation. Note: The trail along the south side of Vista Drive will remain open during construction, despite the road closure on the southeast corner of Vista Drive.

The city will be completing critical work to the sanitary sewer infrastructure in the Vista Drive area. Construction has begun for the replacement of the sanitary sewer lift stations in Scout Park and on the southwest portion of Vista Drive. During construction, lane shifts and closures are planned for portions of Lighthouse Drive and Vista Drive. The new lift stations will improve the sanitary sewer capacity and prevent loss of service due to flood hazards. Thank you for your patience during construction.

Have you been wondering what the greenhouse-like structure is at Scout Park? It’s the new lift station control building, and King Construction is pressing on through the winter months to complete construction. The greenhouse-like structure at the site is used to enclose the workspace and allow for climate control while the masons complete the walls. This building will house the generator and other electrical and controls components that are essential to operating the lift station. In the coming months, King Construction will be installing more underground piping at the Scout Park site.

Work on the Scout Park Lift Station continues! The lift station valve vault has been installed next to the wet well. This valve vault structure will house essential valves and piping for operating the lift station. As the valve vault concrete cures, King Construction works toward completion of footing and foundation installations at the electrical building. Alongside work on the below ground structures, King will begin installing underground piping connections to the new lift station.

The Lift Station at Scout Park is starting to take shape! The concrete wet well structure is nearly complete. This structure will receive sanitary flows from approximately 5,000 residents spread over almost 400 acres.

After completing the wet well structure, King Construction will begin work on the valve vault, as well as piping installations throughout the site.

July 1, 2025

Construction is progressing on the Wastewater Infrastructure Mitigation Project! At Scout Park, excavation is complete for the lift station wet well structure. The contractor, King Construction, has installed the base slab and will continue with the rebar and concrete for the walls of the wet well. Once completed, this tank structure will house the pumps used to convey sanitary sewer downstream towards the wastewater treatment facility.

At the Ice House site, concrete manhole structures are stored along Vista Drive, awaiting their installation in the coming months.

Construction has broken ground on the Scout Park and Ice House lift stations! King Construction has been staging materials on both sites and has begun excavation for portions of the new lift station structures. Road closures and lane closures are in place for portions of Vista Drive and Lighthouse Drive and will remain throughout construction. Erosion and pollution prevention materials have been installed around the site to protect surrounding areas from sediment runoff. These pollution prevention measures will be inspected and maintained throughout construction to protect our lake, homes, and park.

The Scout Park neighborhood meeting was rescheduled due to inclement weather, and was held on May 6 from 4-6 p.m.

Construction has begun for the replacement of the sanitary sewer lift stations in Scout Park and on the southwest portion of Vista Drive. A portion of Vista Drive will be closed for the duration of the project (see closure map below). The bike path along Vista Drive will remain open.

April 23, 2025

Construction will begin on the Storm Lake Wastewater Infrastructure Mitigation project.

November 13, 2024

A neighborhood meeting was hosted to introduce the project and answer any questions. View the presentation slides.
