Weekly Updates

The repeated rain we have been receiving continues to cause delays in the construction schedule. Holtmeier Construction is working through these rainstorms and is planning to finish underground construction along Rice Street from 7th Street to 5th Street on Monday. Underground construction in this area consisted of replacing the sanitary sewer main, watermain, storm sewer, and services to the right of way.
Holtmeier’s underground crew will move to Phase 2 of the project, starting on Monday, July 1. Phase 2 will consist of reconstructing Rice Street from 5th Street to 2nd Street. Weather permitting, pavement removals in this area will begin on Monday, July 1 in preparation of underground construction. Utility work will begin shortly after.
A separate grading crew will be onsite to restore Rice Street from 7th Street to 5th Street. The crew will begin cleaning up the site and subcutting excess clay material. Once the street is subcut, the crew will disc the clay back and forth to dry it out. Also at this time, the crew will install drain tile lines. The tile will be located 1 foot behind the new curb to aid in the removal of subsurface moisture. Each home will have a sump pump service outlet tied into the new drain tile. The sump pump line will be stubbed out to the property line. Once the tile is installed, gravel will be placed, and access to driveways will be restored.
It is not yet known when watermain construction will occur on 10th Street. An update regarding this work will be provided once we have more information.
This is a friendly reminder to set out your garbage and recycling bins at the end of your driveway the evening before the scheduled pick up. This will allow the contractor time to move your bin to a side street.
Construction progress updates will become more frequent moving forward. As always, we appreciate your patience during construction, and we will do our best to keep you up to date with the construction progress and changes. Should any questions or concerns arise during the construction process, please contact Wade Bartz.
