9th Street Utility and Street Improvements
Project Overview
The City of International Falls is improving 9th Street from 14th Avenue to Highway 53. The proposed improvements include:
- Addition of a multi-use path along the north side of the corridor
- New concrete curb and gutter and roadway pavement
- Water main, storm sewer and sanitary sewer replacements
- Lead service line replacement
June 19, 2026
Work completed this week
- Water shutoff on the 500 block of 9th Street.
- Watermain work under Highway 53.
- Storm sewer installations in the 8th Avenue and 7th Avenue intersections.
- Water and sanitary service line replacement on 600 block of 9th Street.
Work planned for next week
- Storm sewer installation in the 6th Avenue intersection.
- Install light pole foundation and electrical work from 8th Avenue to 14th Avenue.
- Turf restoration on the south side of 9th Street from 8th Avenue to 11th Avenue.
- Lead water service replacements at various locations on 5th Street. Affected property owners have been notified.
