Project Updates – July 7, 2025

Public Hearing and Neighborhood Meeting on July 22, 2025

A Public Hearing will be held at the regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 22 at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The purpose of this hearing is to consider and possibly adopt proposed assessments for the project. Prior to the hearing, a Neighborhood Meeting will be held the same day from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall to answer questions about the proposed special assessments and project plans.

General comments  can be submitted at any time via mail to 4646 Dakota Street SE, Prior Lake, MN 55372, Attn: Luke Schwarz or via email to Luke Schwarz at lschwarz@priorlakemn.gov. Anyone interested in submitting comments is encouraged to submit all comments via mail or email before 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, so they can be provided to the City Council prior to the public hearing.

For more information, please review the following documents that were mailed to impacted residents on July 1, 2025.

November 26, 2024

Following the decision to table the project by City Council at the July 23, 2024, council meeting, city staff has been collecting additional resident input about the project, including an open house that was held on October 23, 2024.

Based on the input received from residents, city staff will present the option to replace the asphalt and bituminous curb as it exists today as the preferred project. This was the preference of the majority of property owners and is a change from what was originally presented. This option eliminates the proposed concrete curb and gutter. We will cover all input received in this presentation, including concerns about Pike Lake Trail, the rural nature of the neighborhood, and maintenance concerns. The City Council will then consider whether or not to advance this project.

The City Council meeting will take place November 26, 2024, at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting at 7:00 P.M in the City Council Chamber at City Hall. The City Council closed the public hearing at the July 23, 2024, meeting and will not be taking any additional public comments regarding this project at this meeting. You can review the presentation slides here.
