Project Updates – July 3, 2025

Completed work

  • Completed road striping in Phase 1.
  • Completed stormwater treatment tank construction.
  • Continued restoration work in Phase 1.
  • Began sidewalk construction in Phase 2.
  • CenterPoint worked on relocating gas main on Olive Street and in the alley between Olive Street and Elm Street.

Upcoming work

  • Continue sidewalk construction in Phase 2.
    • Adjacent property owners will be notified when concrete will be placed in front of their properties.
  • Begin paving work in Phase 2.
  • Adjacent property owners will be notified when concrete will be placed in front of their properties.
  • Continue preparation work for burying overhead utilities on Olive Street with placement of the transformer and removal of overhead utilities.
    • Affected properties will be notified with specifics.
    • During the workday, best efforts will be made to accommodate regular access as much as possible.
  • Begin pavement removals and utility work in Phase 3.
  • Starting July 7 the following roads will be closed:
    • Olive Street between the alley and 2nd Street
    • 2nd Street from the dead end to Elm Street
      • Parking on Olive Street south of 2nd Street will be converted from parallel parking to 90-degree parking on the east side of Olive Street. There will be no parking on the west side of Olive Street.

July 2, 2025

On Thursday, July 3, crews will stripe parking stalls on 1st Street in Stage 1. During this work, 1st Street will be temporarily closed to east-west traffic, however, Vine Street will remain open. Once striping is complete, 1st Street will reopen.

Completed work

  • Finished paving driveways and installing light poles in Phase 1.
  • Began restoration work in Phase 1.
  • 1st Street between Maple Street and Olive Street in Phase 1 will soft open Friday morning.
  • Began constructing the new road for Olive Street in Phase 2.
  • Crews plan to pour concrete curb in Phase 2 today (Friday) if weather allows.
  • Continued working on the stormwater treatment tank.
    • During this construction the alley between Olive Street and Elm Street will be closed.
    • Elm Street is now open to traffic.

Paving Update for 2024 Project Area – June 20, 2025

On Monday, June 23, crews will pave the final layer of pavement on Main Street, from Olive Street to Spruce Street; and on Elm Street, Pine Street, and Spruce Street from Main Street. The streets and all parking will be closed starting in the late evening on Sunday, June 22 and will reopen Tuesday, June 24 around noon. Notifications will be handed out to affected properties. All paving and striping work is weather dependent and notifications will be made if dates are revised.

June 20, 2025

Completed work

  • Finished pouring sidewalk concrete in Stage 1.
  • Finished sanitary sewer work on Olive Street.
  • Began installing banner pole and light pole bases in Stage 2.
  • Continued working on the stormwater treatment tank.
    • During this construction the alley between Olive Street and Elm Street will be closed.
    • Elm Street between 1st Street and 2nd Street will continue to be closed for material storage needs during the tank excavation.
    • Access to the Municipal Parking Lot #2 on Elm Street will be available during this closure.

Upcoming work

  • Begin street excavation and construction of new road on Olive Street in Stage 2.
  • Pour concrete curb in Stage 2.
  • Continue preparation work for burying overhead utilities.
    • During the workday, best efforts will be made to accommodate regular access as much as possible.

June 6, 2025

Completed work

  • Finished constructing the road, poured concrete curb, and worked on sidewalk preparation in Stage 1.
  • Installed traffic and erosion control and reclaimed the road in Stage 2.
  • Continued removals of the old water treatment tank in the alley between Olive Street and Elm Street.

Upcoming work

  • Grade 1st Street and pave the first layer of pavement on Stage 1.
  • Begin removals, sanitary sewer and water main construction in Stage 2.
    • During utility connection work, water shutoffs may be needed to connect properties to the existing water system. Affected properties will be notified prior to shutoffs. During the workday, best efforts will be made to accommodate regular access as much as possible.
  • Continue constructing the stormwater treatment tank.
    • During this construction the alley between Olive Street and Elm Street will be closed.

June 5, 2025

Paving preparation work in 2024 construction area starts June 6

On Friday, June 6, crews will begin raising manholes to prepare the 2024 construction area for final paving. This area includes:

  • Main Street from Olive Street to Spruce Street
  • Elm Street, Pine Street and Spruce Street from Main Street to 1st Street

Raising the manholes will impact some parking stalls and cause temporary delays in the drive lanes. There will not be a full closure of the roads. Raised manholes will be marked with cones or other traffic control after the work is complete. In the next couple weeks, additional preparation work will occur, which will also affect some parking stalls. Final paving and striping is anticipated to occur in the coming weeks. Another update will be shared when exact dates are confirmed.

June 3, 2025

Upcoming road closure and parking changes

Crews will begin Stage 2 work on Wednesday, June 4. Planned activities include installing erosion control measures, lowering utility castings, and setting up traffic control. The intersection of Olive Street and 1st Street will be partially closed on Wednesday. Only traffic traveling westbound on 1st Street and turning north onto Olive Street will be permitted during this time.

On Thursday, crews will close access to Stage 2 and begin reclaiming Olive Street between 1st Street and the north side of the alley. As part of this stage, parking changes will also take effect on Thursday along 1st Street (between Olive Street and Elm Street):

  • Parking on the north side of 1st Street will be converted from angled to 90-degree stalls.
  • No parking will be allowed on the south side of 1st Street for the duration of Stage 2 work.

Follow the project detour route to access the designated business parking areas.

May 30, 2025

Completed work

  • Began constructing the new road and installing utilities in Stage 1.
  • Began removing the water treatment tank in the alley between Olive Street and Elm Street.

Upcoming work

  • Tomorrow, Saturday, May 31, crews will pour concrete curb in Stage 1.
  • Begin preparing for sidewalk construction in Stage 1.
  • Finish removing the water treatment tank in the alley between Olive Street and Elm Street.
  • Begin excavation work for the storm water treatment tank.
    • During this work the alley between Olive Street and Elm Street will be closed.
  • Install erosion control and traffic control in Stage 2.
  • Begin reclaiming the roadway in Stage 2.
