Weekly Construction Update
10/04/24:
Heritage Hills Area:
- Paving has been completed
- Areas disturbed by curb replacement have been backfilled and have been restored with hydromulch
- Disturbed irrigation systems have been repaired. Please contact Jared Juth (contact information below) if you suspect any issues with repaired systems
Lowertown:
- Mertens St, Wood St, and West St have been paved with the base course of asphalt
- Minor storm sewer work in West Street has been completed
- Concrete sidewalk and pedestrian ramp installation has been completed
- The alleys between Mertens Street and Wood Street as well as between West Street and Varner Street have been opened for vehicle traffic
- The alleys between Varner and Rice Street, Wood and West Street, and the alleys north of 6th Street have been poured with concrete. Please keep all vehicles off these alleys until barriers have been removed
- Backfilling of alleys with gravel and topsoil will continue through next week
- 1st Street is expected to be milled Wednesday, 10/9, weather permitting
- 1st Street, Mertens Street, Wood Street, and West Street are expected to be paved the week of 10/13

2024 Infrastructure Improvements
Background
The City of Jordan is planning to make improvements to various streets and alleys during the summer of 2024 (see map above). The project was bid in April 2024 and construction is expected to begin sometime after July 1st, 2024. The project will be completed by the fall of 2024. The project scope generally includes:
Alleys:
- Grading/drainage improvements
- The addition of storm sewers in areas where surface drainage cannot be achieved
- Concrete paving of the alley
Street Resurfacing
- Resurfacing of street pavement (method as noted in the map above)
- Spot removal and replacement of deficient curb and gutter segments
- Replacement of concrete pedestrian ramps for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Schedule
- Fall 2023: Preliminary Data Collection
- December 2023 – January 2024: Preliminary Engineering
- February 2024: Public Open House
- February – April 2024: Final Design
- Spring 2024: Bidding
- Summer 2024: Construction
Bids for the project were recently received, but the contract has not yet been awarded to a contractor. Once the project has been awarded, the contractor will supply the City with their proposed schedule. The City will then notify residents of the project schedule and update them as construction progresses. Generally, construction will start sometime around or after the beginning of July and will be completed by the fall of 2024. Resident will be notified of construction updates via mailings, project emails, and/or paper notices delivered to their front door.
